Jacksonville State University
Jacksonville, AL "I'll Fly Away" The 2012 production opens in powerful style with Flight, a collage of selections from Michael Giacchino’s score to Star Trek and Paul Lovatt-Cooper’s Enter The Galaxies. Van Morrison’s Moondance is given a classic Southerners’ big-band treatment as the Ballerinas take center stage. Smooth grooves and burning riffs build to a classic kickline with Bart Howard’s Fly Me To The Moon. This popular standard immortalized by Frank Sinatra rounds out the coolest…and hottest…Ballerina feature yet! The spirit of Albert E. Brumley’s I’ll Fly Away has long been an enduring Southerners tradition. This classic hymn is finally brought to the marching field in a lush arrangement with smooth, contemporary harmonies and subtle gospel inflections. Tender solos layer with ensemble entrances as the Southerners fly beyond the clouds and wash the audience in waves of sound with Harold Arlen’s Over The Rainbow. The 2012 production concludes high in the western sky with Stephen Schwartz’s Defying Gravity. This enduring favorite from the hit musical Wicked finds new life in a driving, pop setting. A classic Southerners percussion feature then gives way to a “kitchen sink” ending unlike any to date. Recaps of themes, blistering horn riffs, and jaw-dropping drill bring the show to a close…but will leave you wanting more. I'm in the front ensemble. 8 marimbas, 6 vibes, 1 xylo, 1 glock, 3 synths, rack percussion

@Gatocat
We looked at playing We Found Love and All I Do Is Win for this years show. As you can read above, we are playing Alive and Amplified and it is so fun. Also, two years ago, we did a Blues Brothers show and we played both Soul Man and Respect. I have to say it was the best show I have ever been a part of! Have fun your senior year! Good luck!
Thanks, Hannah!
I marched baritone my first two years, it's my primary instrument. : ) I'll be marching it again (most likely) in college and DCI. I heard in rehearsal we're kinda switching things up, Show 2 is actually gonna be Show 1 and vice-versa because we have an early bandcamp and the "Generation X" music won't be delivered in time to write the show.
The Pickerington High School North is doing a show called "In-Flight Entertainment"

For Broken Arrow:
Their show has to do with post-apocalyptic world. I watched their show twice this past week already (FB game, and BA invite) and it's called "C--- to Hope". The guard is truly amazing. They come out on these podiums with huge black dresses. And there is a flute solo at the end that is very eerie. Broken Arrow might take BOA again this year.

Glen, Mississippi A Day In High School 1. Opener - New York, New York, On Broadway 2. Precussion Feature 3. Ballad - Nearer My God To Thee 4. Closer - New York State Of Mind The concept for this show is the opener is this hussle and bussle of New York, and then the precussion feature represents the terrorist attack of 9/11 and then Nearer My God To Thee is the mourning of the loss of all the people in the attack and then in the end New York State of Mind is showing that they can get back on their feet and showing that they are strong enough to recover.
Actually, in Union's show "1987: In Retrospect", they play Michael Jackson's "Bad".
Also Included: "Alone" by Heart "Synergistic Parable" by David Sartor "The End of the World" by R.E.M
Jefferson Forest High School

And snip-its of Christina aguilera's "beautiful through out. The main concept of our show is everyone thinks they are "perfect" and all the exact same except this one girl, who is beautiful in her own way. There is like a 'leader' of The Perfect people. As the show goes on, people start to change into thinking they are beautiful in their own way. At the end, Everyone has 'converted' except for the one leader of the perfect people. so yeah... Color Guard! (rifle and flag)

Show entitled "Wrapped in Blue." Music includes Rhapsody in Blue, by Gershwin, An American Elegy by Ticheli, And Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor by Bach. We were division 2A this year, and we're probably going to be about 4A next year. At our last competition our hard work paid off; we swept our class and won Divisional Grand Champions (out of the seven bands in 1A and 2A we had the highest score) and I THINK we were about 3 or 4 points off from the highest scoring band? Either way, it was my rookie year and I'm proud of my first season on the colorguard. c:
