Forms, follow me's and hit points
slhscg Feb '12
ok so my shows were getting good scores and reviews, but then my content changed. I am currently trying to use follow me's and hit sets to drive my show at the end, with company fronts, but I cannot seem to find out a way to do so effectively. and form wise, im finding a lack of no collisions when i design my sets. I try my very best to design without collision but i end up switching people to places I don't want them at. anyone have any ideas as to how i can improve my sets and follow me's and hit points, please comment
I watched a couple of your shows. You’ve improved a lot over time and you’re definitely in the right direction. Really, the best thing you can do is practice over time and have patience when writing your shows. Play each set back numerous times and don’t be afraid to make changes or experiment until you have just what you want. If you can’t get exactly what you’re looking for, don’t force it- not all of your sets have to be spot on or flashy, and you can always save some ideas for a later show. It sounds like a painfully boring task, but it really just takes time and patience. Hope this helps.
how do you post latest show on critique?
This goes for everyone looking to improve their shows.
If you do every single thing on this list, and spend at least 3 hours each your show, tweaking all the details, you will start getting into the top 20%. micromarching.com/doc/design_tips.php Also, make sure you've watched all the tutorial videos, even if you think you know all of the shortcuts.
One thing I learned recently is thinking ahead. I know just sticking marchers around the field combined with trial-and-error can usually help get to the end of a show but seriously thinking ahead is very effective. Don't only think about where your marchers are going in the next set. Think about where they will go in the next 3 or 4 sets, how they will move, how their positions will be balanced in comparison to the other marchers on the field, how you could possibly sneak in a nice passthrough, etc. Dont worry about forms, worry about movement. Think about it like a game of chess. Always thinking ahead. This helped me alot.
It's not easy at first but you will get used to it. Designing clean drill takes time. i take a look at each transition to each set if I don't like it then I delete the set and start all over. It's not hard it's just tedious task.
@ Kylethsc I do that too very efective Log in to add a comment. |
