I added the new Stuff!
Who knows, maybe "12.25" will surprise us in a good way. Let's not pass a verdict yet.
A couple of posts have been deleted. Bashing corps and/or their show designs is not tolerated. And besides, it's really rather silly to try to even speculate how shows are going to turn out at this point.
Carry on...
give.cavaliers.org
Cavaliers say donate a dollar and you will find out information on their 2012 show.
A load of information regarding World Class has been added to CorpsReps.
corpsreps.com/corpsreps.cfm?view=currentyear
As far as if the Cadets can pull of 12.25 or not- in my mind, if Crown can pull off a show with popular rock music and a theme comparable to a college pep band, any corps can pull off nearly any concept they can think of if they write the show well. The Cadets will be fine.
The Cavaliers did a Christmas show in the 90s and did well with it, so I don't think the Caets will have too much of a problem.
I think the Cadets will be fine with their Christmas show. Itll be a good excuse to listen to DCI at Christmas-time! And also, the Cavaliers did a show entitled "Cavalier Anthems" in 1991. It wasn't a Christmas show, but it did have a Christmas song in it.
To get an Idea what a full Christmas Show could sound like you may should watch this . They're the current DCE Champion as well youtu.be/v9ddkcxj70w
I don't understand why everyone is so worried DCI has amazing drum corps who could honestly pull off anything if they want to.
^we are just so eager to find out what the shows are! XDXDXD
I'm really excited about what Academy is going to do this year. I love Stravinsky, not to mention their openers are always EXCELLENT.
Heck, I'm excited about what EVERYONE is doing. :)
Personally, I'm excited about a Christmas type show from The Cadets, if that is what they are planning on doing...but I think I had heard a couple of months ago something about them doing music from Pearl Harbor or something along those lines...was that just hearsay? Thanks.
That was a working title. They changed there minds a few times since then. 12.25 has been officially announced.
Do you know if Genesis' show's "Someone Like You" is by Adele?
@John Davis
Someone Like You will be the sort of underlying theme in the show just like Send In The Clowns in last year's Genesis production. :)
Oh ok. I was just wondering haha
Here is a paragraph written on the Cavaliers' homepage:
"Like many non-profits, 2011 presented the corps with a number of challenges, but that didn't stop The Cavaliers from having a XtraordinarY year. The truth is, we need your help to start the year strong, and we're asking you to donate any amount that's right for you and your family. In this challenging economy, The Cavaliers remain committed to providing incredible, life-changing experiences for our members, as well as entertaining and inspiring fans across the country--a commitment we've upheld since 1948. We have exciting things planned for 2012, and we are counting on you to help make an IMPACT." On the actual site, the words "XtraordinarY" and "IMPACT" are in bold and highlighted green. No other words in this paragraph are in green or bold. It seems like a subtle hint to their 2012 show. Maybe "IMPACT" is the title of their show?
hey everyone, been a LONG while since i was on here. these sound like great shows!XD
@ John, I bet its a hint, maybe not a show title. I'm betting the actual title is a little more elaborate knowing their show style. :)
Yeah. We'll see I guess!
I am PUMPED about Regiment, as usual! I am also REALLY looking forward to SCV with Eric Whitacre music! The Chorale here at Lee has sung many songs by him, including "Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine", and I can't wait to see it on the field. Gonna be a good year! :)
Cadets 2012 Opener: fbcdn-video-a.akamaihd.net/cfs-ak-ash4/346044/6/10...
.
Hymn to a Blue Hour...Mmmmmm
The bands I am most looking forward to are..
+Phantom Regiment (as always) +Madison Scouts +Cadets But, all the bands are full of supreme talent and blow me away.
*corps, not bands. Bands march in the fall.
SCV Announce that Jupiter will play a part in their 2012 Program.
Since it was posted in Youtube, I can say that you can add "Land of Make Believe" to Jersey Surf's music.
The corps i am looking forward to see are
-Blue Devils -The cadets -Cavaliers -Carolina Crown
Genisis's show sounds cool after looking at the poster on their website.
I could tell you this is an overview of the cadets 2012
youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tM...
Still on the edge of my seat for Cavies 2012!
I am in the academy this year and let me tell you this show is going to be a good one. You wont want to miss it.
Blue Knights are doing the music from Firebird Suite. Its gonna be a very "in your face" kinda show.
^ Awesome, we're getting more Stravinsky :)
Academy-rite of spring?! my life is complete!
ya academy is doing music from rite of spring
You can just put "Awesome" for Spirit of Atlanta because that's what it is going to be.
I want some more reps already!
.
Check it out more stuff was added:
corpsreps.com/corpsreps.cfm?view=currentyear
SCV is also playing "Jupiter from the Planets Suite" by Holst xD
Cascades: Shinto
Spirit of Atlanta: Sin City
Cadets are also adding Do You Hear What I Hear
Pioneer Music:
Symphony 9 “New World” - Antonin Dvorak Recollections of Ireland - Ignaz Mocheles Music from “Gangs of New York” Music from “Boondock Saints” Music of U2
^ Where are you getting this from?
Anythingon the bluecoats 2012
Velvet Knights: "Moving Forward"
Short Ride in a Fast Machine-John Adams Road to Chicago-Thomas Newman 1000 Airplanes on the Roof-Phillip Glass
Corps can really touchy if info is released early, so please don't post anything unless it's been posted by the corps.
I've deleted a few posts because of that. Thanks.
@Landry Kendrick- I Found them on a different drum corps forum website called: Drum Corps Planet but when I went back the Cascades and SOA stuff wasn't there. Confusing. But the Cadets Do You Hear What I Hear is on youtube.
also so some Cadets you tube of "Need a Little Christmas" and part of their closer: "Hark the Herald Angels Sing"
SCV just announced that they will also be playing "Mars", from "the Planets", by Gustav Holst!
lol, ^ knew that last december from a friend, but good to know they announced it finally!
^^ That made me so happy! I'm really excited for their show this year!
The Raiders show this year is going to blow everyone away, history is going to be made.
Since Jersey Surf's music is posted on youtube, here is what we got so far.
In The Stone Land of Make Believe William Tell Pure Imagination
Santa Clara Vanguard
2012 Show Repertoire "Music of the Starry Night" Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine Eric Whitacre Hymn to a Blue Hour John Mackey Mars, the Bringer of War Gustav Holst Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity Gustav Holst
Cascades: "Shinto"
Music of Mackey, Powell, Zimmer, and original music by Lewis Norfleet.
I CANNOT wait for PC, Troopers, BK, Academy, SOA and Oregon Crusaders this year! THANK GOD I'm in a corps that opens up DCI Southeast!
As for Cadets, I love Christmas music. It's probably the best blend of dark and triumphiant styles out there that I can think of. And if any corps can pull off the "interesting" concepts out there, it's the Cadets.
I believe Minnesota Brass is doing a, "Bonnie & Clide" production.
Really looking forward to seeing Santa Clara on tour this year.
I can't say what the Raiders show is yet... But I can tell you that it's all original music written by Key Poulan himself! There is also a very intriguing hint for the theme of the show on the Raiders website as well. ;)
Sounds like Spirit's playing Mackey's "Harvest" based on their latest camp video, if not it sounds REALLY similar. (Bluecoats played it last year).
You can hear it in their last camp update: youtube.com/watch?v=MxeeaHnQx2w&feature=player...
^ I have no clue what you are talking about... All I hear is *beep* *beep* *beep* *beep*...
;D
^That made my day
Any word on the Blue Stars yet? Have they released anything to the public yet about their show theme?
Yes and no, but it’s better to keep it quiet for now.
I love that the boston crusaders are doing the pines of rome. that song is so beast
I just heard a snippet of the Cadets 2 production and man they sound reallly good! Especially for this early in the season
Blue Knight
dont know the show name but they are playing music from the firebird suite Infernal dance sounds amazing!
DCA Corps Alliance will not be fielding this year :(
Are you serious?! Why?!
Lack of membership, and membership committing too late due to involvement in winter groups.
^Jennifer hit it. Or at least thats what I've heard. I'm sad about it but hey, things happen.
I'm kinda pumped for BK's show this year! Anyone else?
I am!
I am part of the Genesis hornline. I'll tell you guys now, WE ARE GOING TO BRING IT THIS SEASON!
Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps presents their 2012 production, “Shattered.”
shat-ter-ed: [shat-erd] · broken in pieces, damaged (as by breaking or crushing), impaired, destroyed, or refuted (ideas, opinions, etc) Featuring music by Philip Glass, David Gillingham, Trading Yesterday, Joseph Brackett, W.A. Mozart, and O. Respighi. Straight from Revolutions website.
Very interested to see where Revolution goes with the staff changes. Their drumline was pretty smokin.
Agreed. I was supposed to be marching with them this year actually, but some stuff came up and I couldn't.
Their music selections over the past few years have been fantastic, and those this year seem just as interesting.
The Closer for the Academy is "The Song of Purple Summer," from the musical Spring Awakening
^ Aren't they using Rite of Spring as well?
Raiders will have the greatest show in DCI history!
Just heard the Blue Knights' closer and let me just say...you guys will not be disappointed!
Interesting, I noticed on the DCI schedule that Revolution hasn’t signed up for any shows. Anyone know what’s up with that?
They had some staff stuff go on at the end of last year that was pretty huge, probably just making 100% sure that the corps was going to field this year I suppose. That's just an assumption though, don't take my word for it.
Revolution and Forte are still under DCI evaluation due to the changes in corps direction for both. Pending approval, both will be added to the schedule.
2012 Blue Stars: “The Blue World”
bluestars.org/story.php?story_id=642 P.S. Look at the first composer listed ;-)
^^^ EPIC! Can't wait for the Blue Stars this season! They are going to be awesome like always!
Thanks Dave! That just made my day. I just wish I could see yall live again.
Mmmm...Dvorak...
I'm literally crying from sheer excitement.
Oh yes!
SO excited! Hope you all enjoy it this summer :-)
New World Symphony!
@FabianSR - a tad. ;)
A friend of mine is in the guard this year. Great things are going on at Blue Stars this year. Gonna be a great one for you guys!

^Pumped about Cavies!
Cavaliers show also includes:
-Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Mozart -Vesti la Giubba by Ruggero Leoncavallo
So pumped for Cavaliers show as always!
Holy Cow! Cavaliers Repertoire = I just got goosebumps
^ Paparazzi...o.o Lady Gaga...o.o
If you’re talking about the Paparazzi the Cavies are playing, it’s not the Lady Gaga version.
Isn't Stefani Germanotta Lady Gaga?
Oh yes haha, I guess I never realized that...
That should be very interesting... :D
Yeah my friend told me that. Haha I guess they're all songs having to do with some sort of fame theme. "15 Minutes of Fame"
Wow that Cavies will be SICK!
Crossmen:
crossmen.org/page25917916 It almost seems like a variation of their 1992 show (which was great btw).
Awwww! You beat me to it, Matthew! Well the songs that Crossmen are performing in the 2012 production, "Fragile" are:
“Earth Song” by Michael Jackson “Wailers/PD7” Interweaving of Bobby McFerrin’s "Wailers" and Anoushka Shankar’s "PD7" “Here Comes the Flood” Peter Gabriel “Finding and Believing” Pat Metheny Go Bones!
Crossmen screams crowd favorite to me this year. Can't wait!
Very excited to hear Earth Song from Crossmen. Love that Michael Jackson.
What Is The Cavies Show?!
Cavaliers.
Paparazzi by Stefani Germanotta and Rob Fusari Oh Gaga.
Ooh can't wait for Crossmen!
Has anyone else noticed that the Cavies poster is Rick Astley?
Rick Roll on Finals night. I'm calling it.
^ Haha, that'd be great. XD
Once again a very out-there-yet-intriguing-and-i show from BD. Mona Lisa with a shako is an interesting site. :-)
So if you are confused and wondering what to expect from Blue Devils this year, here are some clues:
"art could elicit audience response, be it shock or conspiratorial amusement." "militarized duty-bound masculinity contrasted with a complete disregard for the rules..." " improvisation" "deliberate juxtaposition of uncoordinated actions" "delight in the chaotic" " irreverently iconoclastic" This sounds like a ground breaking show to me, one that people will remember and talk about for years to come. Mark my words...this show will join the ranks of Garfield Cadets 1984, Star of Indiana 1993, Cavaliers 2002, Cadets 2005...Blue Devils 2012 will join the list.
^ I totally agree. This sounds intriguing, inspiring, intellectual, and just AMAZING. I'm really really really excited to see this show.
bluedevils.org/programs/a/2012/repertoire.php ^ There is the show announcement from their website. "Cabaret Voltaire" •Tristan Writes a Manifesto "Harmonielehre" John Adams "Morrison Mania" James Horner "The Children's Hour of Dream" Charles Mingus "Symphonies: V" Andre Souris •Marcel Paints a Moustache "Bird & Bela in B Flat" Don Sebesky •Hannah Makes a Collage "Gymnopedies" Erik Satie •Man Ray Makes a Metronome "Ballet Mecanique" George Antheil •Gertrude Writes a Play Music from "The Artist" Dr. Bones "New Arrival" Danny Elfman "Tevot" Thomas Ades I think I found my hype corps for 2012.
2012 is going to be a great year for drum corps. Every corps show sounds amazing! Really excited for this year!
Corps shows I like already:
Cavs Cadets Blue Stars Phantom Regiment SCV Boston Crusaders Corps I'm not sure about yet but sound like they have potential: Bluecoats Troopers Scouts
Wow, I normally despise Blue Devils shows but since 2010; their shows have been REALLY cool. I'm actually excited for them this year!
Cavaliers - 15 Minutes of Fame!
Harmonielehre ahhhhh is life real?
Wow. This really seems like a really neat theme Blue Devils have going this season.
Seeing as how Blue Devils' shows have been predominantly music-based shows with not as much drill as some other corps, and have still been successful, this looks like a show they can win with. I am wondering now if their drill is going to be as ground-breaking as their music promises to be. I am really excited about this show, as I'm sure the music alone will knock the socks off of people! :-D
According to Drum Corps World 2012 issue:
Carolina Crown: "For the Common Good" - Dreams: Bernard Moren - Third Symphony: Aaron Copeland Glassmen: "GlassWorks" - Works by Phillip Glass, Key Poulan, Rob Ferguson, James Horner, and Camile Saint-Saens
I love the picture of Mona Lisa on the Blue Devils' site XD. It looks awesome.
Is it just me, or are the designers for the Blue Devils extremely intelligent people? Their themes are normally never quite simple are they?
hawk, you are right - they always come up with some really, really neat concepts - also very abstract at times, such as last summer's show.
@tromboon. I loved 2011 but otherwise I just never get the BD shows. They aren't really easy to understand
Carolina Crown 2012 "For The Common Good"
^ Sounds interesting. Can't wait for their selections...
Spirit of Atlanta present "Sin City"
Musical selections by: Frank Loesser, Lalo Schifrin, John Mackey, Stefani Germanotta, and John Powell spiritdrumcorps.org/component/content/article/1-la...
^ That sounds pretty epic and right up their alley.
Spirit doing lady gaga?
What in the world drum corps? Also: It's a show about Las Vegas... Oh my God. They are going to play Poker Face...
^^ Ryan, Cavaliers are playing Paparazzi by Lady Gaga as well.
@Dave: i know lol! hence my comment! why are all these corps doing lady gaga songs? haha
As much as she freaks me out (lol), some of her music could be VERY entertaining on the field. I'm kinda excited to get some new stuff out there! Stuff like firebird, ect, are getting kinda old.
Dood...o.o this year's going to be interestingly awesome!
DANG Boston Crusaders playing THE PINES OF ROME>>>? HECK YES! Haha Im Soooo pumped for BD's show too
ITS OFFICIAL!
carolinacrown.org/web/index.php?option=com_content... Somewhere between fantasy and reality lies the possibility to achieve that, which may initially appear unattainable. Whether through discovery of natural ability or by making extreme sacrifices, human beings are individually and collectively capable of super-human achievements. ...
^ lol
im not sure what the program is called, but i know the Blue Knights are playing Fire Bird

For 2012, The Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps brings you their production..."Warped". Imagine coming out of a door onto a road that constantly changes your perspective of reality. The journey down the pathway continuously brings you to new places, where everything you see or do is affected and warped by the trail. As the show continues, the road changes frequently, so trying to figure out if we are in an area of clarity or distortion can only be determined by the passageway itself
So get ready to follow the Raiders on a WARPED journey to places unknown Log in to add a comment. |
