Update #48 -- Ripples
Woo hoo!
Thanks!
YAY!
WOOOOO! Now I just have to wait for my Premium to Activate!
The ripple is going to be LOTS of fun to mess with!
Hey joe do you have a clip demonstrating the ripples?
Oh my, I can’t believe you actually added chairs as a prop...
Omg ripples!
@ Andrew, yes he does.
*dead* I honestly don't know where to begin! Thanks Joe!
Now just add the option for 62 more chairs... err I mean props. ;)
Yes yes yes yes yes...
best. christmas. ever. (all caps)
Yesssss!
Ok, I'm cracking up at the chairs.
This is cool, now I can make my next sync project: "The 1930 Zone: In Four Parts with a Triple Crown."
Thanks Joe!
Ok, guard throwing flags in a ripple is amazing.
Amazing.
You all should probably refresh the editor page. I just fixed a quick bug.
million and a half likes.
Oh my. I just reset marchers and when the message came up I got scared haha. Thanks Joe!
*passes out*
Edit: with experimentation, I noticed ripples only apply to change of stance. Any idea if it would be possible to create a ripple with step offs, etc? 2nd Edit: Although, even if its limited to change of stance, it is still an awesome update, Joe, and I can't wait to play around with it more.
I'm confused with the ripples. It says that there is a ripple in my show, but its not showing up when I press play in the designer. Am I missing something...?
That's weird. Ripples don't work if they are in the first set...?
What animations are you using? If you ripple from a toss into another toss, it doesn't seem to work.
YES! Thank you!
Ah, that was it.
@Sean, right, it works for all animations, including guard. I'd like to add rippled drill at some point, but can't make any promises.
I'm having a problem going from Sweep to a ripple Wave once. Its just not doing the wave animation at all. I cleared the ripple from the set, but now when I press @, it does nothing. Even when I press the Shift+@ to see how many i have in the drill so far.
If you leave the designer and go back, it allows you to use the ripple again, but it still doesn't ripple. And goes back to not showing the wave animation. EDIT: Instead, it seems to ripple to the animation of the next move. Edit 2: If the next animation is a pose.
Regarding your first issue with it not doing anything, I just fixed that a few minutes ago, so refreshing would have solved that issue.
For the other issue, ripples were designed mainly with poses in mind, so generally if animations are involved, you want to ripple them into a static pose. Rippling from one animation to another won't make a whole lot of sense visually anyway, as it would just look like the animation is out of sync. Anyway, I'll probably have to add something to make the allowed transitions more obvious.
Hm. Thanks. I'll refresh my page now. Sorry about that. I thought I had. Oops.
It looks like the Wave Once animations don't work to well in a ripple... I'll have to fix that when I get a chance.
Such a shame too. Oh well. Its an awesome update. Its a good thing I went and got a cappuccino with some nice espresso for tonight! Its gonna be a long one. :D
EDIT: What's happening now is sync'ing up perfectly I was amazed. I'm definitely okay with what its doing right now. haha
Fantastic update, Joe.
Which one is the arch window?
It's the one that looks like an arched window.
Bahaha. That was extremely funny to me due to lack of sleep. Sorry.
Copying and Pasting dots is beautiful. Thank you so much for this update. I'll also be looking forward to these ripples in the future :)
YES! Thank you Joe and Merry Christmas!
It's just like an early Christmas present. Thanks!

For this to work predictably, make sure you select the initial marchers AND the new marchers in the desired order.
Fixes:
- Fixed shift-line in IE (Thanks Kyle Halpin)
- Fixed scroll wheel for guard animations (Thanks Casablanca)
- Fixed critique link for shows in judging queue (Thanks Gcntra12)
- Fixed links in DML (Thanks Justin Ekstrom & dcsfrontensemble)
Premium features:
- Added Ripples ("@" Key)
- 2 new guard uniforms: dress & colored midriff
- 2 new flag styles: flames, curved with gradient
- 5 new prop styles: door, arch, arched window, fence, chair
- Can now Shift-click the "change" link to cycle props in reverse
Ripples (Premium)
How they work:
- Select the marchers in order of the ripple, on the set where you want the ripple to -begin-, then press "@".
- You are limited to 64 ripple steps in each show. Each marcher in a ripple counts as one step. e.g. You can have one 64-step ripple, or two 32-step ripples, etc.
- You can have multiple ripples in a set, and the same marcher can be in multiple ripples.
- Use Ctrl-@ to clear all ripples in the current set.
- Use Shift-@ to see how many ripples/steps you have.
As always, you can update to Premium here (and right now it's 20% off!):
micromarching.com/doc/subscribe.php That's it, let me know how it goes.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!
