The Judging Queue

Joe Lesko captainSep '10
I just ran a filter on the queue and brought the total from 560 to about 200. It essentially looked at shows from newer members and gave them a pre-calculated score. There are still a lot of shows, but now it's closer to the ones that have a legitimate shot at reaching the front page. I will probably run it once per day while we're in peak season.

Eventually though, I think the queue will end up getting split in a more formal way, to distinguish between the advanced members and the ones who are just getting started. The talent level of the community is a lot more diverse now than it was when it first started, so I want to start addressing that. Just please don't ask me for details yet, since I'm working on other things at the moment.

Thanks

Love love love love!

I was pretty upset by this. I posted my show yesterday and it has already been "judged". I have no likes and comments, and thats probably the most rewarding part of designing a show. Its too bad a good website like this does this to its less experienced members.

After a little while of inactivity, i wrote a show and i was like,"WOAH! MML must have really grown! I remember always being at 50th in the queue at the most not 500th!" I like this new development a lot.
Astrognash Sep '10
Kyle: I think it has to do with the show itself. I mean, you're obviously more experienced than me, and my show stayed in the queue when yours didn't.

Joe will we get to judge the rookie shows if we're not rookies? And/or will rookie shows be showcased some other way so that we can still find them, watch them, and comment on them?

Sorry I'm not as patient as FotA :/

I think I spoke too soon! Before I speak of likes and dislikes again mindlessly, let me listen to an experienced members advice and "hold my tounge"

Kyle, the changes that are coming up are meant to support the new members even more, not to exclude them. This is just a one-time thing because we're in peak season and if I didn't do this, we would soon be looking at judging times measured in weeks.

And Astrognash is right, it's mainly dependent on the show. If you cranked out a show in about an hour, it's probably not going to stay in the queue. Really good shows that take a long time to make will always stay in, no matter what your profile rank is.

If you're looking for feedback, the correct way is still to use the WIP Feedback forum; you just need to be specific about what you're looking for. And if you want people to see the finished product, it's like any other website, the best way to start is by sending a link to your friends (here or on facebook, etc). There are just too many shows now that I can't guarantee every show will be seen, so it's mostly up to you.

Thanks
