High School 2010 Shows

Connor Parrish Mar '10
I'm curious to know what everybody's high school's show is going to be this year. If you know, or even if it isn't certain yet, share it with by putting the high school and title of the show.(if you have a recording of the music, feel free to post that as well). I'll start:

Washington High School Marching Blue Jays: The Primary Colors of Music( jksmusic.com/music/mb-comp/index.php?musicid=124)

EDIT: DCI shows are welcomed too. Just list the corps your in and the name of the show. If you would like to add some information about your show, feel free.

I'm marching Troopers. Our 2010 show is called "WANTED."

There's the show announcement video.

That's about all I can tell you for now.

*Acknowledges Jerry's superiority concerning all things past, present, and future* I don't have an official title yet, but my directors confirmed we're playing Frank Ticheli's "Angels in the Architecture" and "The Sphere" (It's a choral piece, and I don't know who it's by). There is also a flugelhorn solo somewhere. I'm gonna audition for the solo. Being a sophomore next year, I probably won't get it, but you never know.
Rumors are that we're doing a show about the desert. In my opinion, it might be something like Cavaliers 2009, but not as well designed.
Jerry Mar '10
Rblfan, if you read the bottom of the original post, then you'll see that DCI shows are welcome too. :)

Music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra! I'm pumped! =)
We WANT to do My Spanish Heart (Blue Devils '94), but we need to recruit a bunch of people to even have a band. Our director's not going to bother with a 25-wind band.
Luke55698 Mar '10
All i know is that we're playing something by ...Key Poulan...
Carl Jalm Mar '10
@Santiago Hernandez - BD '94 was some great music. I did that show my freshman year of high school and their show is one of the most played tracks on my iPod. Here's hoping you get some more people on board.
Joesph Huss Mar '10
all i know, this is a rumor, we may do something aour crosstown rival did a couple of years ago, something that has thriller in it.
Chris D Mar '10
"pursuit" music from cirque de solei's show "ka", the title track of the movie firewall, and some music from final fantasy.
Chris D Mar '10

teckla Mar '10

Biglerville High School 2010

Show: The Point of No Return

Music:
- The Trap - James Howard
- Angus Dei - Samuel Barber
- Niagra Falls - Michael Daugherty
Anthony V Mar '10
Samuel Barber is an excellent composer. Our percussionists performed "Adagio for Strings" (also by him)... on percussion equipment of course!
RyanJB Mar '10
Adagio for Strings and Agnus Dei are the same piece- Agnus Dei is Adagio Strings transcribed for chorus. =)
Tylasaurus Mar '10
key poulan has some pretty amazing works. we won alot with his stuff. we did-
- the rise and fall of rome
-state of the heart (originally heartbeat)
-directions (originally pathways)
-fear (originally the pit and the pendulum)

we made state finals with all four and won with the first 2. so, key poulans music if played right is a sure fire for success. so good luck! hope you do well.
Johnathan Doerr Mar '10
We are doing the planets from Gustav Holst. It's a celestial god wars theme. Pretty crazy stuff. We are using Dwayne Rice for our arranger. He's really good.
Kever Lewis Mar '10
You've already said that... haha
Johnathan Doerr Mar '10
Omg I feel like a complete idiot haha
Kever Lewis Mar '10
Haha! It's ok. We've all had our moments.

Hargrave High School
The Music of Earth, Wind, and Fire

It is gonna be epic.
blakep Mar '10
We don't know yet, but we've heard the recording. Our drill writer is an ex cavie and he only writes for one other group. I don't know how Mr. Dale got him. and since we're rewriting the drumline part b/c its not up to par for ours, our percussion writer is SCV's writer
Kever Lewis Mar '10
Whoa! Our band director is Mr. Dale! Freaky.
Ben Zein Mar '10
most likely:
1) shadow rituals
2) lux aurumque or symphony #1 by Samuel Barber
3) kingfishers catch fire

no title yet, but perhaps "Into the Light"?

Vandegrift High School.

idk what we're calling the show yet, but it's based off of Simple Gifts and Appilachian Springs...i'm really excited :D
conlift15, give your band director a million high-fives for bringing together sci-fi geeks and band geeks :D

Im helping as a brass/marching tech for a school in my hometown, we are doing a show called "Status Quo"- the idea is that all the performers are going to tryout different things, 1st movement is all brass choir, the woodwinds join the guard here think of about 60 flags going all at once its gonna be beatuiful, then its vice versa for the 3rd movement. Second movement is a pec feature where there are over 40 percussionists on the field, its an african piece so lots of jymbaes*sp and rhythm type drums. Then the 4th movement is an all come together all out blast fest-which i love! Its all original music by the director. I am so excited i have alreadt heard a rough draft of the brass music for the 1st mvmnt and it is gonna be great.
Chris D Mar '10
Evan that sounds awesome definetly keep us updated on that :D
dingus Mar '10
ehhh... ours is still a little undecided "PUSH" could be it but I've also heard "Hazo: The Modernist" In the Hazo show we might use Ride, Exultate, Perthshire Majesty or another piece by Hazo. PUSH probably will be all original compositions. Samuel Hazo is an incredible composer, but I would love some Eric Whitacre in our show. October, Lux Aurumque, Equus (Avon HS did it... I think), an arrangement of Cloudburst would be EPIC!
I don't know where I'm teaching this season, and I normally get music either the week prior to or when I get to the camp I'm teaching.
