"Dies Irae" for marching band
If I am not mistaken, I believe I heard part of Avon's 2007 show had segments of Dies Irae in it. I might be wrong.
Yeah, it's pretty much the first portion of the show and it returns towards the end. And yeah, Nishihara is in Japan =P The drill for their show is incredible...
We used a marching band arrangement of Dies Irae for our show. I believe our director bought it off of J.W. Pepper online. I may be mistaken, though. But there IS a version out there for a marching band.
edit: I just checked jwpeppermusic.com and it is on there. If you search "Dies Irae," its about 4 or 5 spots down.

@lhabluemarcher - Thanks for the help. Unfortunately when I perform the same search, I get mostly choral music, and the only one that is marked marching band doesn't say if it's by Verdi and has no mp3 to listen to :-( What other songs did your director choose to play in that show? Did he/she use a theme or are they one of those that doesn't believe in themes?
@pedazos - that video is amazing. They're not a high school band are they?
Yeah, Avon's a High School band. There's a reason why they're the BOA Grand Nationals Champions in 2008 and 2009...they got second that year xD
@pedazos
I like the trumpet on the 40 at the start of the show. (horn stuck in other person's uniform)
i love avon's 2007 show! wish my high school could march like that!
@ RJPilcher. We had a show about a soldier who goes off to war and doesn't come back home. Dies Irae was our 3rd movement, where the solider dies.
And about not having an mp3... youtube.com/watch?v=46q9dI9Bm8U <--- that's a video of our show, and Dies Irae is in there. We used the arrangement bought off of JWPepper, except that percussion parts were rewritten. So what you here in that video should be very close to what you get. Oh btw... if you watch our entire show, please ignore how the trumpet solo and the snare solo get off beat in the beginning of our closer. It was a fluke mistake, and never happened again. Still embarassing, though, especially since that's our only show on Youtube. =P
@Brendon: Don't forget back to back ISSMA State Champs as well 2008 and 2009.
They didn't win ISSMA state champs in 2008. Lawrence Central barely beat them I think...and while we're at the praising. Highest score in BOA history ; )
@ Jerry: I can't express how much I was freaking out when I saw his trumpet get caught in his neighbor's lanyard. It was the first 2 measures of the show and already catastrophe struck. I was actually right in front of those guys taking pictures for the website, and I saw it happen. I even got a picture of it happening: avonband.com/photos/marchingband/2007/07statefinal...
That's still one of my all-time favorite marching band shows.
Wow, it's a good thing he fixed it before they started moving. That would have been bad if he didn't get it out of there in time.
Which state is Avon from?
Indiana
I've been trying to figure out the name to that for at least 2 months... You guys are life-savers.

Has anyone come across a marching band arrangement for this? If so, where and how do I get a copy? haha
